Surcharge Fees for Virtual Terminal Transactions

Surcharge fees are available to sellers to help cover the cost of processing payments in any environment.

Surcharge fees must be a percentage (not a flat amount) less than 3%. For more details on requirements, see Surcharge Fees.

1. Navigate to the Virtual Terminal

Option 1: From the Payments List Page

  1. From the left navigation, click Transactions > Payments.
  2. Click Take a Payment.

Option 2: From the Virtual Terminal Page

From the left navigation, click Tools > Virtual Terminal.

2. Fill Out Basic Form Information

  1. Select whether to process a Sale or Authorization using the Virtual Terminal.
  2. Under Transaction Details, enter a Total Purchase Amount and a Description.

3. Add a Surcharge Fee in Transaction Details

  1. Under Transaction Details, click +Add Buyer Fee to add a buyer fee to the transaction.
  2. Select Surcharge Fee Amount.
  3. Enter a value up to 3%.

View other Transaction Options available.

4. Process the Transaction

  1. Complete the remaining sections of the form.
  2. Click Review Transaction if the payment details look correct.
  3. Click Process Payment to complete the transaction.
    • After submitting, a confirmation message appears with a Payment ID.

5. Review the Payment Confirmation

  1. In the confirmation message after processing the payment, click the Payment ID to view its details.
    • The payment or authorization details page displays.
  2. The Surcharge Fee is displayed under the Payment Details section.
